Here’s how to Get Attic Storage with Attic Flooring ! It’s just 6 easy steps.

Step 1

Most attic access doors don’t fit a standard 4 x 8 foot piece of ¾ inch plywood, so check and see if you need to cut the 4 x 8 foot in half length-wise, to make it a 2 x 8 foot piece of ¾ inch plywood flooring.

Step 1

Measure Your Attic Access Opening

Step 2

Place Attic Flooring on a ceiling joist.

Step 2

Place Attic Flooring

Step 3

Measure XX inches down the joist and make a mark to center the next Attic Flooring, and then again mark another spot XX inches further down for the end/corner.

Step 3

Place Additional Attic Flooring

Step 4

Since ceiling joists are usually XX inches apart, pick the joist two over and mark/measure for the other side.

You should have Attic Flooring supporting the plywood on each corner as well as in the center.

Step 4

Place Additional Attic Flooring

Step 5

Adjust Attic Flooring to the same desired insulation accommodating height using the enclosed 6 inch plastic dowel/rods.

Step 5

Adjust Height of Attic Flooring

Step 6

Place the ¾ inch plywood on the flooring, ensuring the flooring is completely under the plywood and in the proper position.

Mark the mounting holes and secure the plywood.

Step 6

Place Plywood On Top of Attic Joists

WARNING – failing to properly secure the Attic Flooring to the ceiling joist or the plywood flooring to the Attic Flooring can lead to injury or damage to the ceiling.

Attic Flooring is an innovative way to preserve attic storage while allowing up to 11 ½ inches of money saving insulation above the joist height.
